Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In one place everything you ask us most often – about resins, molds, safety, shipping and payments. If the answer is missing here, write to us and we’ll add it.

Products and Quality

Where do your products come from?

We are the exclusive supplier of Resin Pro Italy products and distributors of brands from the Czech Republic. Our resins, pigments and some of the colors, molds, additives and modifiers have Czech certification and safety data sheets. We carefully select goods from other countries based on quality and European certification. We test everything, so we don’t offer anything we wouldn’t use ourselves.

Are your resins high quality?

Yes, our epoxy resins meet European quality standards, have safety data sheets, self-leveling properties and a glossy, durable surface when cured.

Does the resin have any smell?

It has only a minimal odor. A pleasant smell does not mean safety – when working with any epoxy resin, use a respirator/respiratory protection, eye protection and gloves.

Is resin harmful?

The risks are comparable to working with paints. Always work with appropriate protective equipment (respirator, goggles, gloves), ventilate and follow instructions on the packaging and in the safety data sheet.
Resin Selection and Quantity

I am a beginner – what should I buy for my first experiments?

We recommend our starter kits with clear procedures and video tutorials – you’ll avoid common mistakes and get your first beautiful result including experience for further creation.

How much resin should I buy?

For most of our molds you’ll find the resin consumption indicated. You can calculate regular shapes with our consumption calculator.

How to choose a resin?

It depends on the casting height, cure speed and UV stability. We’ve compiled this handy Resin Selection Guide for you.

Food contact – what is suitable?

For products that come into contact with food, use the certified Fluid resin.
Working with Resin – Procedures and Troubleshooting

Do I need a UV lamp?

Epoxy resin is two-component and cures by reaction when mixing components A and B; a UV lamp has no effect on its cure.
UV resin is one-component. It is not mixed and cures under UV/LED light and is usually suitable for layers up to about 1–3 mm. For higher castings, epoxy with low exotherm is better.

Cloudy/gelled component A – what to do?

In the cold, component A may thicken, cloud or form sediment. It is a normal and reversible phenomenon. Place the closed container in a hot (not boiling) water bath until it clears (approx. 30–90 min depending on volume).

My product did not cure/is soft or sticky – can it be saved?

The cause is usually the wrong ratio, insufficient mixing, low temperature, too much color or moisture. In this article you will find what can be done.

,How to prevent bubbles?

All tips can be found in this article.

Do I need to grease/separate the molds?

Silicone releases by itself; the molds don’t need a release agent. Simply pour in the resin and the cured piece will demold easily.
Safety and Children

Can children, pregnant or nursing women work with resin?

We do not recommend that children or pregnant/nursing women work with epoxy resin. If you decide otherwise, it is at your own risk and always use the recommended protective equipment. Children in that case should work only under adult supervision.

Are finished casts safe for children (e.g. if they put them in their mouths)?

Fully cured epoxy is chemically stable and becomes a safe thermoset, but it is not intended for chewing. For children’s products choose materials with the relevant certification (e.g. EN 71 for toys).
Storage, Shelf Life and Maintenance

How long do unmixed components last?

They have a one-year shelf life from purchase unless otherwise stated on the packaging. Store in the original sealed containers, in a dry and cool place away from direct sunlight.

How to clean molds and tools?

Clean molds with adhesive tape or nano cleaner. Tools with clean alcohol, paper towels, etc. Never pour resin residues down the drain; let them cure and then dispose of them.
