Product detailed description

Epoxy resin 5-five is a unique product that allows pouring up to a thickness of 5 cm, does not turn yellow and is resistant to mechanical damage. It is suitable for work at ambient temperatures up to 30 °C. It is an excellent choice if you want to create tables, slabs, pyramids and other resin and wood products in the summer.

It is fully transparent and can be used for layers of approx. 5 cm. In the case of higher castings, we recommend casting it in layers, after partial or complete hardening of the lower layer. It can be colored and pigmented well. Curing in approx. 48 hours, it is easy to process and polish. It has excellent mechanical properties, high strength and cohesion. The cured resin surface resists scratches and other non-critical damage. Thanks to its low viscosity, it removes air bubbles well during the curing process.

Specifications

The maximum thickness of the layer is approx. 5 cm.
The minimum layer thickness is 1 cm.
The maximum casting volume is:
up to a height of 2 cm 70 kg;
up to a height of 3 cm 20 kg;
up to a height of 4 cm 14 kg;
up to a height of 5 cm 10 kg.
After curing, it has a fully transparent, solid and mirror-like surface.
It is UV stable and resistant to moisture from the air (reduces the formation of water stains, loss of gloss and yellowing).
It is suitable for transparent and colored castings, it is well colored with dyes and pigments from our offer.
Shelf life: 2 hours, 23 °C (100 g, 23 °C).
Curing time for demolding: 48 hours. Final curing and completion of all bonds in the resin will take place in 10-14 days, at which time the resin can be sanded or objects placed on it (valid for curing at a constant temperature of 20 - 25 °C).
It is self-leveling and well fluid.
It is solvent-free, contains no phenolic substances and is practically odorless.
It can be used for pouring all types of materials (wood, concrete, glass, etc.).
Mixture viscosity: 400 mPa.s.
Resulting hardness: 90 Shore D.
Processing and application

First, mix both components in a mass mixing ratio of 100:55. Each component must be carefully weighed in grams. First, pour and weigh component A in the required amount into the container (clean and dry), reset the scale to zero and pour and weigh component B in the required amount. To facilitate the calculation of the required weight of component A and B, use our calculation table. Both components are mixed for 3-4 minutes (clockwise and counter-clockwise mixing is alternated, while it is necessary to scrape the material from the walls and bottom of the container as well). After mixing, it is recommended to pour the mixture into another clean and dry container, mix again and then apply.

If the mass is cast into molds, it is advisable to use a silicone mold. In the case of molds made of other materials, it is necessary to use a separator for easy removal from the mold. We do not recommend using glass containers as molds, as they may crack during the curing of the resin. When pouring porous materials (wood, concrete), air bubbles are released into the cast mass, so it is necessary to penetrate these objects. Porous materials can be penetrated with special penetration, or you can paint them with a thin layer of resin and after it hardens, pour such objects into the desired product.

To ensure an optimal consistency and quality result after application, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient temperature of the environment and the substance during mixing (approx. 20 °C). Low temperatures have a significantly negative effect on the final result.

After mixing the components, the resin hardens in 48 hours, but we recommend that the product be processed mechanically (grinding and polishing) only after 12-14 days from the moment of pouring.

The recommended casting thickness is for a standard product that consists of 25-30% resin and 75-70% wood or various fillers such as stones, artificial flowers, metal parts, corks and the like. When pouring boards longer than 1.2 meters, it is strongly recommended to work in two stages to avoid overheating the product. First, pour a 3 cm thick layer. The next day, we pour a second layer, which will be 2-3 cm.

Notice

Observe the processing time, do not work with the finished mixture for more than 2 hours. If this time is not observed, the products may not have the necessary properties (the finished products may be fragile) and the resin may begin to heat up quickly in the mixing vessel in the upper layer (so-called exothermic reaction) and deteriorate.
The resin may become cloudy when stored at temperatures below 20°C. This is a normal phenomenon, before use put the closed bottle of component A in a warm water bath (50-70°C) for 20-30 minutes and the cloudiness will disappear. Prevent water from entering the resin bottle. After removing from the bath, let cool before using.
Do not place hot objects such as tea cups on the finished resin products. The product could be damaged.
Safety measures

We recommend that children under 18, pregnant and lactating women work with epoxy resin only using skin and respiratory protection, and children only under the supervision of an adult.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water. Avoid swallowing or inhaling the material; In case of ingestion or contact with mucous membranes, seek medical attention.
