Choosing colors and pigments for epoxy resin

Are you choosing colors for epoxy resin and don't know where to start? Let's look at the different categories.

Dyes

We have dyes on our e-shop Resin Studio categorized by whether they create transparent or opaque casts. It's up to you to decide what suits your product best, and you can start choosing from the different colors. For some dyes for transparent products, adding a large amount may result in an opaque cast. Gradually add colors to the mixed resin, stir, and observe the color intensity. Darkening the color is never as difficult as lightening it.

Dyes do not have the sparkling effect like metallic powders.

Powdered Colors

In our selection, you will find metallic, metal, and effect pigment powders.

With powdered color, you can achieve both transparent and opaque casts depending on the amount of powder used. You can also mix them with dyes in the prepared resin to achieve unique shades.

Metallic powdered colors have a fine sparkle, while metallic colors can create a mirror effect on the surface of the resin.

How to achieve the Petri dish effect?

This effect uses alcohol-based dyes. This property is always indicated in their name or description. They are always liquid dyes.

So, what color should you choose for resin?

Each dye and powder looks unique in resin; choose colors more by your taste and the effect you want to achieve rather than its consistency, and always remember to add them gradually to the mixed resin and mix thoroughly.

And don't forget that dyes can only be used up to their maximum recommended amount; otherwise, the product may not cure properly.
