Have you been captivated by the latest trends in home decor crafting and want to try them yourself? Then you're in the right place! Let's take a look at simple techniques to master these effects. In this article, we will focus on combining epoxy and mineral resin!
Will they work together?
Yes! The popularity of combining mineral and epoxy resin has reached huge proportions, and you will fall in love with this fusion of two worlds. Mineral resin is matte, while epoxy resin is glossy. Combine them and we guarantee you will have a unique product that everyone will ask about and want.
How to do it?
First, prepare a casting from NatuResin mineral resin.
Prepare your workspace and gather everything you will need for the project. What you need to prepare is already detailed in our article "How to Work with NatuResin Mineral Resin ?"
Mix the required amount of NatuResin for your mold and fill it completely. After the thermochemical reaction takes place, where the product heats up and then cools down, you can remove the casting from the mold. This takes just a few minutes.
The casting at this stage is still fragile, so it can be broken into two halves.
When can I use epoxy resin?
Wait about 24 hours before pouring the epoxy resin. The casting from the mineral resin will still be releasing some moisture, which epoxy resin does not like.
I've prepared the NatuResin casting, what next?
Clean the mold to prevent any residue of mineral resin or dust from damaging the epoxy resin section. Place half or pieces of the mineral resin casting into the mold and press them down firmly. Then mix the epoxy resin and pour it into the remaining part of the mold. We used Fluid resin.
Decorate, wait, and you're done!
If you want, you can decorate the epoxy resin section with flowers, glitter, or other decorations. Then just wait for it to fully cure, and you're finished!
Crystal resin can save failed products
Do you have a less-than-perfect product made from mineral resin and want to give it a boost? Does the coaster look something like this? Crystal resin will save the day! Pour a bit of clear resin over the product; we used Fluid just like in the previous product...
...and try decorating it with a bit of glitter and a few strokes of colored resin. Thanks to this combination of two resins, you will never have to throw away failed products!
