How to work with silicone molds

If you want to create any product from epoxy resin, you will certainly need a silicone mold.

Silicone molds for epoxy resin are characterized by having a very smooth and glossy surface, making them very easy to work with. You essentially just need to pour the epoxy resin into them, and after curing, the final product is ready. Molds can be used repeatedly.

We offer a wide variety of silicone molds in different designs, shapes, and sizes, allowing you to create various products according to your wishes. Whether it's jewelry, rings and bracelets, keychains, candle holders, bookmarks, rulers, coasters, trays, Christmas or Easter decorations, and much more.

Working with Silicone Molds for Epoxy Resin Is Not Difficult

Silicone material is very flexible; it holds its shape during casting and allows you to easily pop the resin out of the mold once cured. Silicone naturally separates itself, so no additional separators are needed.

How to Extend the Life of a Silicone Mold?

Beginners with resin are often surprised that silicone molds are considered consumable items. Why are molds considered consumable? Resin chemically affects the molds, causing them to lose their gloss and flexibility until they are no longer usable. It is often suggested that using various separators extends the life of the mold. However, many creators report that significant extensions in the lifespan are not observed. Moreover, using separators can result in a matte or spotted final product. Therefore, we cannot recommend using separators in molds.

Only Use Resin and Items Without Water in Molds

As mentioned earlier, casting resin with silicone molds is used for creating various decorative items from resin, jewelry, pendants, earrings, or bracelets. However, you can also create different figurines or embed dried flowers or insects into molds. Be cautious, as only items that are perfectly dry and free of water or separating agents (oil, silicone...) should be used; otherwise, a violent exothermic reaction can occur. Learn more about exothermic reactions in this article.

How to Make Your Own Mold?

If you want to advance your creativity, you can also make your own silicone molds or resin molds and create truly original resin jewelry or various decorative items that no one else has. Silicone for mold-making is available. Making your own silicone mold is not difficult at all, and you can use any decoration or object, such as a figurine. Liquid silicone for mold-making has two components and cures naturally within about 12 hours.

However, if you do not want to make your own silicone molds, we offer a wide variety of different molds and shapes from which you can easily choose. Crystal resin captures every detail of the mold, including imperfections you might have made when creating your own silicone mold.

You Can Also Make Your Mold Using i-Gum Paste

If you haven't heard of this paste yet, you are missing out. Simply take two equal parts of components A and B, knead and combine them in your hand, and press them onto any object to create a detailed mold. It is also popular for making coaster edges on smooth surfaces. This way, you can create your own coaster mold.
