Are you creating resin paintings and feel bad about throwing away the hardened resin puddles that always form underneath them? Instead of discarding them, you can give them a new life. Turn them into a flower that can serve as a decoration in a vase or even as a plant stake. Learn step by step how to process these hardened resin remnants.
1. Collect and save the remnants
Save the drops and puddles of resin in various shapes and colors. It doesn’t matter if they don’t have the shape of petals yet—we’ll give them that shape soon.
2. Prepare a hot water bath
Pour boiling water from a kettle into a suitable container. Place a piece of resin in it and let it soften for just a few seconds. Be careful not to burn yourself. Always use tweezers for handling and wear protective gloves.
3. Cut out the petals
Softened resin is easy to cut, allowing you to create petals in various sizes. You can start with a few now and cut more later.
4. Heat the petals again
Heat each petal one by one, then dry and shape them as needed. Drying is necessary to ensure the glue sticks properly.
5. Glue the individual parts
We recommend using universal glue. Unlike super glue, it allows you to rearrange the petals for a few more minutes.
6. Use a cup as a stand
As the flower grows larger, it will be difficult to hold. Use a cup as a stand to help maintain a nice round shape.
7. Let it dry well
We recommend letting the universal glue dry overnight to ensure everything stays in place.
8. Heat the flower's end
On the next day, heat the flower’s end in the water bath to cut the petal ends and make space for the stem.
9. Choose a stem
We used florist wires, but a skewer or stick will work too. If you use wires or skewers, apply glue to make sure they stick to both the flower and to themselves.
10. Place and glue the stem
11. Let it dry and you're done
